Lately, my hobby has been my home server. I have repurposed an old laptop that we had laying around and turned it into a home server. My wife had mentioned several times that we should throw it away because it’s not good enough by today’s standards. I like to keep tech things around just in case. Well, good thing I kept this one. It has a lot of fun and a big learning opportunity. I installed Linux and that has given me the chance to learn more about CLI. I also installed several services like Plex, Octoprint (I’ll talk about that in another post), docker, portainer, and several services inside containers.
This reminded me that sometimes (not always), we can repurpose old tech that most would consider trash into cool projects that help us learn new and exciting things.
